Semiconductor chip

Refers to an unhoused semiconductor chip. This means that it is a bare semiconductor, but there is no housing or electrical contacting. The wafer is already metallized and sawn on both sides. The chips are usually supplied in a waffle pack or on wafer foil and placed on a circuit carrier in automatic placement machines. The chip is then sintered or soldered onto the circuit carrier.
