Plasma

This is referred to as the 4th state of matter. Gas molecules are ionized, i.e. brought to a higher energy state, so that free charge carriers are formed. Typical plasma applications are neon lamps. However, northern lights also represent a plasma.

For plasma cleaning in particular, a distinction is made depending on the pressure applied:

  • Low pressure plasma (p
  • Normal pressure plasma (p = atmospheric pressure)
  • High-pressure plasma (p> atmospheric pressure)
