CTE-Mismatch

Describes a composite material consisting of materials with different coefficients of thermal expansion (CTE). These differences are referred to as mismatch. The greater the mismatch between two directly joined materials, the higher the resulting thermo-mechanical stresses. The mismatch can be compensated for with a layer structure in which only materials with small differences in thermal expansion are joined directly.
