This methodology uses proven tools from Six Sigma and lean concepts in the development sector. The structured approach achieves more sustainable results with significantly lower project expenditure and costs.
PERFORM stands for the 7 steps:
- P (Plan): Define customer requirements, assess risks and set measurable parameters.
- E (Engineer): The target variables are prioritized on the basis of methods such as pairwise comparison or the KANO model.
- R (Recognize): Critical factors influencing the target variables are identified and relevant measurement variables are determined with the help of process maps & Ishikawa diagrams.
- F (Formulate): Historical data is analyzed in order to work out connections and correlations and to minimize the testing effort and costs for the subsequent Operate phase
- O (Operate): This central step comprises the planning and execution of tests, starting with measurement system and machine line analyses to ensure measurement quality. The following aspects are included:
- a. Variation of individual factors vs. simultaneous variation of all influences Advantages and disadvantages of the two strategies.
- b. Budgeting and resource planning: Efficient planning of financial and human resources in the project.
- c. Test documentation: Clarification of why and what needs to be recorded in the test process to ensure reproducible results.
- R (Review): Systematic evaluation of test results and optimization methods.
- M (Maximize): Finally, parameters are optimized to increase quality and efficiency, supported by sensitivity analyses and statistical tolerance design.
